A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…before the obsession of Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat, there was Myspace.
If you were born in the 90’s or early 2000’s you more than likely had a Myspace. And if you were like most account holders, you took great pride in your profile. It had to have the perfect music that described just how cool you were. Your about me section had to be just long enough to show you cared, but not too much cause again, you’re cool. And your top 8 was most important of all, reserved only for best friends and significant other. If you dared to put any undeserving person on your top 8 you’d better have had a good excuse.
Once Facebook came around, everyone switched over and never looked back. Myspace was sold to News Corp and our dear friend Tom ran off with a whopping $580 million (£431 million). Since then Myspace has had a few different owners, and is now a site for pop culture news and music. But did you know you can still see your old profile?!
Over the years Myspace has made it easy for old account holders to revisit their profiles. All you really need to remember is that old made up email address you had at 13.
Heres how you do it.
- Go to Myspace and try to sign in. Obviously.
- Cant remember your password or email? Don’t worry, just click forgot password. If you’re still have problems, there’s a list of other options you can try by clicking “Need Help” to the left of the log in section.
- Once you’ve given up and tried again, gone through all the option, called a friend for help and finally got access to your account, go to Mixes.
- From there you’ll see different folders with all your old pictures, who you were friends with and the music you listened to.
Unfortunately it doesn’t look like the old profiles, but lets be honest you only want those glorious grade school pictures. Are you still friends with your top 8? Were you as cool as you though you were? The fact we can all still revisit our old Myspace accounts just goes to show you, the internet never forgets.
Myspace will haunt you… FOREVER!
What did I find.
After 3 very long hours and help from a friend, I found out I reeeeeally wasn’t as cool as I thought. I took matching colours to a whole new level and makeup was NOT my thing. Bright eyeshadow isn’t for everyone. I recovered passwords for 3 email addresses I’d forgotten about, with over 20,000 unread messages collectively! One of those emails started and ended with “x0x”…ugh.
It was a very humbling experience. Im still best friends with my number one friend, because of course I was single AF and had no bf on my top 8. I reconnected with an old friend who was an exchange student. And lastly I saved all those…unique pictures of myself and friends.
It was fun and I recommend everyone do it. Go get those old pictures, they may come in handy one day.
